Abstract

With the development of new technologies, there are multiple disciplines that have been impacted. However, this has not been the case in the academic and technical training that students who have to face barriers to pursue their career must receive, in the face of a productive apparatus with extensive already automated routines. Therefore, this research aims to update the current curriculum of the journalism degree taught in Dominican universities, to achieve better digital training for journalists in the Dominican Republic. For this, a scientific model is proposed that outlines the theoretical references of the final purpose of this study. In addition to the use of the methods used, there will be observation and interviews, while for the analysis of the findings, documentary and data analysis will be used. information. The sample of this study is made up of the curricula: Bachelor's degree in Social Communication with a mention in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Bachelor's degree in Social Communication from the Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD), Bachelor's degree in Social Communication from the Dominican University O&M and Bachelor's Degree in Social Communication from the Technological University of Santiago (Utesa). With the update of the current curriculum of the journalism degree, the graduate will be able to develop the professional skills and abilities required to practice journalism in the current media, which demand professional personnel widely instructed in the use of new technologies, making a significant contribution with regarding the curriculum that is currently used, which has not been updated in alignment with the new work functions that have been assigned to journalists in this era marked by digital transformation, which makes the design of a model that present in a structured way the context that permeates this new reality.
