Abstract

Dominican public education has faced persistent challenges related to student motivation, engagement, and academic performance, within a context marked by limited resources and digital divides. In this scenario, gamification has emerged as an innovative pedagogical strategy that integrates game-based elements to enhance the teaching-learning process. The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of gamification on student engagement and academic performance at the primary education level in a public school in the Dominican Republic. A cuantitativo, non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional design was implemented. Data were collected through surveys administered to teachers. The results showed increased student motivation, higher classroom participation, and positive teacher perceptions regarding the use of gamified strategies. It is concluded that gamification represents a viable pedagogical alternative to strengthen educational processes when supported by adequate teacher training and instructional planning.
