The main objective of this research was to develop a procedure to improve the perception of the smile in relation to the buccal corridor space and lip height in patients at the General Teaching Hospital of the Police. The study, which had a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design, was descriptive in nature. The results indicated that most patients showed moderate or low levels of satisfaction with their smile, with notable concerns about dental alignment and the proportion of the buccal corridor. An orientation plan was designed that integrated visual tools and simulations to educate patients about the importance of dental aesthetics and its implications for confidence and personal well-being. The evaluation of the plan by experts highlighted its relevance and feasibility. In conclusion, the aesthetic perception of the smile is subjective and multifactorial, influenced by prior knowledge and personal expectations. The proposed procedure combines clinical and educational elements, offering a comprehensive solution to improve smile perception and contribute to patient well-being. This reinforces the importance of personalization in orthodontic treatments and the need for proper guidance to achieve satisfactory results.
